Japan Stand
Ayoub: How do find SIAM?
Japan representative: It is a great event and we are glad to have this opportunity to present our work in Morocco.
Ayoub: What part of Japan do you represent?
Japan representative: We are volunteers. We work with Jica, the “Japanese International Cooperation Agency." Its aim is to boost development in remote areas. This year we have worked with Moroccan associations for the improvement of life in the countryside.
Ayoub: What is your aim behind taking part in SIAM?
Japan representative: Our aim is to show our work in the Moroccan countryside. We are not here to present Japanese products or agriculture. It is an opportunity for people to know about our volunteering programs, and about Jica. We are here to support Moroccan women who live in far-fetched areas and whose main income comes from breeding cattle or growing farm products. Our mission is to teach women some handmade skills like sewing, knitting, embroidery and other manual tasks in order to be able to set up their own projects someday.
Meriem: Is this your first visit to Morocco?
Japan representative: I came here for tourism before.
Fatima-zahra: How do you find Morocco?
Japan representative: We love everything - this is an amazing country. We would like to come back again and spend more time with the Moroccan community.
